On Friday, January 15, "snow-storm tickets" will not be valid
Given weather forecasts, on Friday, January 15, the so-called "snow-storm tickets” will not be valid, so car drivers will not be allowed to use Riga public transport for free.
The decision to extend the validity period of so called snow-storm tickets is taken every day by a special ruling of the executive director of Riga city, based on weather forecasts. According to calculations of "Rīgas satiksme", on the first three working days of this week when „snow-fall„ tickets were in force, some 37 500 passengers used these tickets.
The so-called “snow-storm tickets” have been introduced in conformity with binding regulations of Riga City Council. The municipality granted this right to car drivers for the first time three years ago. Cleaning snow in streets will be continued throughout next night.
